Wyoming Casinos and Gambling LawsThere are only three casinos in Wyoming as there are so few members of the American population living there. For the same reason, residents aren’t that interested in gambling and haven’t voted on many gaming laws.

In this guide, we’ll walk you through the current laws for the state lottery, horse racing, off-track betting, and casinos. Plus, a list of our favorite online gambling sites operating in Wyoming.

Legal Wyoming Gambling

Currently, the only form of gambling online allowed is off-track betting hosted by TVG, TwinSpires, and BetAmerica. While Daily Fantasy Sports are technically allowed, we recommend caution.

Meanwhile, you can enjoy gaming machines like slots and video poker and lotteries in the state. However, only tribal casinos are allowed to operate in Wyoming, so you’ll have to get your fix there.

Lastly, the state lottery doesn’t offer instant games, and you can only buy statewide tickets. You can also purchase Power Ball, Mega Millions, and Cowboy Draw tickets at retailers.

WY Gambling Laws

Despite being a liberal state, Wyoming has strict laws about gambling. First, casinos can only operate on tribal land but can’t offer pure luck table games. Still, there are live poker rooms and skilled tabletop games allowed.

As we’ve mentioned, you can’t play instant win games in the state, and you can only buy lottery tickets at participating retailers. Online ticket sales aren’t allowed by the state gaming commission or Attorney General.

List of Casinos in Wyoming

The only race track in Wyoming is in Evanston, at the Wyoming Downs. There are eight off-track betting parlors throughout the state, though.

Here’s a list of the three casinos operated by native tribes:

Casino Size Address
Little Wind Casino – Ethete 179 Slot Machines 685 WY-132
Shoshone Rose Casino Hotel – Lander 330 Slot Machines 5690 US Highway 287
Wind River Casino – Riverton 800 Slot Machines 10269 WY-789

History of Gambling

The Cowboy State has a short history of gambling, with racing only getting legalized in 1984. After that, casinos were allowed officially in 2010, and the Wind River Casino was the first to open. However, the lottery only came in 2012 without a referendum.

Another technically legal offering is poker at taverns in the state, though they can’t take a rake. All profits have to be from food and drink sales.
